The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) seeks an operationally adept and strategic leader to serve as the next Director of The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (Director). Reporting to and working closely with the Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management, the new Director will provide leadership and direction to a staff of 23.
The Director will shape the vision, guide operational efficiency, develop and support staff, and implement policies that enable the University to achieve its broader goals of promoting student enrollment, persistence, and completion. For this critical role, UNCG is seeking a highly collaborative and transparent leader who has a proven track record of creating a vision and setting and achieving long-range strategic goals while ensuring the University’s financial aid programs conform to university policies, regulations, and objectives, all while remaining in compliance with all federal, state, regulations, and procedures. The University seeks a problem-solver who will involve staff in developing solutions and keep them fully informed as changes are made to policies and processes.
The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of contemporary financial aid policies, practices, and operations. They will understand financial aid business processes and related systems and be able to lead staff through business process improvement when needed. The new Director will engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that the office works collaboratively with campus partners to complete the disbursement of financial aid and scholarships. They must be committed to maintaining an efficient, service-oriented, and student-friendly office. The ideal candidate must embody a deep commitment to diversity and an appreciation for the values and traditions of UNCG.
Founded in 1891, UNCG is a public, coeducational, doctoral-granting, residential university and one of the three original institutions of the University of North Carolina System. The University holds two classifications from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching—a “doctoral university with high research activity” and a university with deep “community engagement” in its curriculum, outreach, and partnerships. UNCG is also a federally designated Minority-Serving Institution. The University enrolls approximately 18,000 students, including more than 3,700 graduate students. According to U.S. News & World Report, UNCG is the most diverse public university in North Carolina. U.S. News also ranks UNCG first in North Carolina and among the top 20 public institutions in the nation for social mobility of undergraduate students.
