Data Governance Specialist
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for a Data Governance Specialist for the Office of OneIT. The Office of OneIT provides highly reliable information technology infrastructure, tools, and services to empower the University to achieve its academic, research, administrative, and service goals.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Two+ years of extensive use of SQL and RDBMS systems (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.), MS tools including Excel (pivot tables, OBDC connections, and similar third-party tools. Two+ years of extensive experience with large data sets preferably in higher education (Banner).
Essential Job Duties: This position is the team lead over the university’s metadata management and data quality programs and possesses extensive knowledge of metrics reporting, data analysis, metadata governance rules, and business rules and processes associated with the institution’s business-critical data systems.
Duties include:
- Lead curator of metadata associated with master and institutional data
- Creating data standards, data catalogues, and data dictionaries for the enterprise data set
- Manages data master hub information and is responsible for managing the automated user access form
- Establishes an approval process for the standards and creates solutions that enable the University to resolve data quality issues
- Developing scripts to ingest database system structures, reports, and business rules, profiling data to identify data quality issues, and developing data quality dashboards for the University Master Data set
