Assistant Professor of Nursing

The Department of Nursing in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at The University of Tampa invites qualified applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2023.

Certification as an Adult/Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (strongly preferred) or Family Nurse Practitioner is required.

The department is interested in candidates who have an interest in gerontology, epidemiology, leadership/management – (organization & systems management, health policy), EBP/research. Experience in teaching and curriculum development in BSN-DNP program desired.

The successful candidate is expected to have a commitment to classroom and clinical teaching. Opportunity in teaching across all programs (BSN, MSN AGNP-PC and FNP programs and post-masters DNP) mentoring of student research, scholarly activity, service and clinical practice within the environment of a liberal arts institution. A typical teaching load is 12 credit hours in a 14-week semester. Nursing faculty have one-day week scheduled for clinical practice if desired.

The successful candidate will have:

  1. An MSN and doctoral degree (PhD, EdD or DNP) in nursing required.
  2. National certification as AGNP-PC or FNP is required.
  3. Florida APRN licensure required.
  4. Evidence of teaching experience in an academic setting is required.
  5. Two (2) years or more of clinical practice in nursing specialty area.
