Temple Health is accepting applications from highly skilled, collaborative addiction medicine physicians for the position of Medical Director of Addiction Medicine. In this role, the successful candidate will lead a team of dedicated providers delivering consultative addiction care within a large academic medical center at the frontlines of the opioid epidemic. Position responsibilities include:

  • providing inpatient consultative addiction clinical services to patients with substance use disorders;
  • developing and implementing treatment protocols and care pathways for patients with substance use disorder, working in collaboration with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, and other ancillary providers;
  • integrating and standardizing substance use disorder protocols across campuses and clinical sites of TUHS;
  • developing and maintaining operational and clinical ties to local and regional post-acute care facilities, substance use treatment facilities and programs, and governmental and public health treatment efforts and protocols;
  • developing and leading educational and curricular efforts in the field of substance use disorder treatment; and
  • working collaboratively with external (governmental, foundation) stakeholders to develop novel programmatic offerings and funding streams for care of patients with substance use disorders.

 

Candidate Qualifications

  • M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent
  • Successful completion of an ACGME accredited residency program
  • Board certification or eligibility in primary board
  • 3 or more years of experience providing addiction treatment, including medication assisted therapy.
  • Expertise in withdrawal management, and management of buprenorphine, methadone, and other medical therapies for opioid use disorder.
  • Clinical experience in the acute care setting, with knowledge and/or experience in the post-acute and addiction services setting.
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted DEA and medical license from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to start date
  • Preferred: Addiction Medicine certification by the American Board of Addiction Medicine or the American Board of Preventive Medicine
