Salisbury University, a member of the University System of Maryland, is a regionally accredited four-year comprehensive institution offering 62 distinct graduate and undergraduate programs. Located on the historic Eastern Shore, SU's beautiful campus is some 30 miles from the Atlantic beaches and 2.5 hours from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Salisbury University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Cultural Affairs & Engagement Specialist in the Cultural Affairs Departments.

Primary Job Duties: Implement consistently strong event programming in support of the University’s academic offerings and coordinate internal and external marketing in support of that, including public-facing cultural calendar and magazine. In support of University mission, events present the diversity of human cultures and experience while celebrating our shared humanity, drawing from the visual and performing arts, humanities and other academic disciplines.

Programming implementation is accomplished by arranging, delivering, and assessing a series of events throughout the year, which may in a given semester focus on a relevant theme; marketing cultural events on and off campus and leading community engagement and outreach to increase event attendance; and ensuring effective communication among multiple programming groups across campus and, to that end, convene the Cultural Affairs Council, which is chaired by the Dean of the Fulton School of Liberal Arts.

Through the engagement and outreach process, identify prospective donors and work with the Office of Advancement in the cultivation of donor relationships.

Additionally, monitor and analyze state-allocated funds for programming, identify sources and apply for grants in support of programming.  Serve as a liaison and provide logistical support to the Fulton Advisory Board, the Salisbury Symphony Orchestra Board and other Fulton-related boards and affinity groups.

Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Humanities, Communication, PR, or allied fields. Three to Five years of related experience.

Experience with diverse populations and working knowledge and experience with successfully planning cultural events for campus and community.

Must be competent in handling and negotiating contracts, providing logistics and using social media platforms.  Have the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a network of professional agencies and on campus support units. Must have the social skills necessary to provide the needs of a wide variety of performers and patrons.

Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal, customer service, organization and planning, prioritization, problem solving, follow through, time management, and oral and written communication skills.  Also, must be flexible and possess the ability to successfully handle multiple tasks/projects simultaneously and work well under pressure, work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

The position is a full-time, exempt State position with full benefits. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
