Child Development Specialist
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required with experience teaching young children. Master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of Early Childhood Education experience preferred. Experience in administering an infant/toddler program is preferred. Successful candidate must have knowledge of children and family systems and resources, and childcare licensing requirements. The Specialist must also be skilled in interpersonal communication, oral and written, organizational and public relations skills, and be able to work independently.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, coordinate, and implement overall educational component in accordance with the Head Start Performance Standards. Ensure the provision of comprehensive education and child development services through curriculum, materials, equipment and services that meet the program goals and adhere to the Head Start Performance Standards. Comply with Head Start Performance Standards as well as Kentucky Childcare Licensing regulations and Head Start and OVEC Policies and Procedures. Understand and comply with Child Care Licensing, STARS, ITERS (Infant Toddler Environmental Rating Scale), and ECERS (Early Childhood Environmental Rating Scale) as applicable to position. Provide a comprehensive education and child development services that includes curriculum development, materials, equipment, and staff training that meets the Head Start Performance Standards.
