Graphic and Digital Designer
Job Summary:
The Graphic and Digital Designer implements established creative and design functions such as layouts, graphics, art direction and production for various print, digital and multimedia projects. Serves as the printing vendors liaison for the creative staff. Collaborates with creative team members, project leaders, department heads, directors, deans, to follow ONU’s strategic direction for design solutions that align with the University Brand. Supervises all student designers. Performs other duties as assigned.
Scope:
The Graphic and Digital Designer for the Office of Communications & Marketing follows established guidelines with the University visual identity and executes against those guidelines for branding, consistency and quality of various publications, digital graphics and other materials.
The Graphic and Digital Designer for the Office of Communications & Marketing is an on-site position.
Principal Responsibilities
Follows established visual and branding style guide for University publications and digital graphics. Design and layout of print and digital graphics for publications, advertising, posters, way finding and promotional products.
Designs and layouts print materials and digital graphics for the academic colleges, and various assigned projects.
In conjunction with the Creative and Design Services Manager’s art direction, coordinates a variety of guidelines, policies and precedents for project requests, terms of use, branding alignment and logo usage.
Polices visual style guide in logos or artwork used on promotional projects or wearable materials sold by student groups. Provides logos and logo approval to individuals interested in using the University logo and provide guidelines for appropriate log usage.
Provides art direction, when needed, to photographer, videographer, freelance designers, digital managers, graphic designer interns, and work study students.
Supervises all design students. Provides guidance, advise and consult on work, and evaluate work products.
Works with freelance designers, interns and work study students as needed.
Ability to manage the creative process, workflow, workload, and resources among creative group.
Required Skills:
- -Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite and Apple computers
- -Experience with brand compliance
- -Ability to solve problems through the identification and analysis of diverse issues
- -Proficient organization and communication skills
- -Knowledge of printing/production process
- -Experience with compiling graphic proposals including quote, media, materials and costs
- -Desire to supervise and assist student designers
- Minimum Qualifications:
- -Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic or Advertising Design
- -At least three to five years of similar work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- -Three to five years of similar work experience
- -Must offer professional design portfolio for consideration
