We are accepting applications from candidates for a full-time position as Academic Specialistin the Department of Biology and Chemistry.
Responsibilities: The Department of Biology and Chemistry at Morehead State University is seeking an Academic Specialist, who serves as office manager to the department. Seeking candidates that are proficient in various software necessary to departmental needs as well as in computerized administrative systems. Maintains and monitors the unit budget, supplying data and statistics to the chair. Supervises workstudy students. Prepares travel requests and vouchers. Answers telephones; orders supplies and equipment; and maintains inventory. Maintains faculty and staff vacation/sick records and submits timesheets to Payroll for faculty, staff and students. Facilitates memos, letters, office correspondence, reports, and secures test materials. Processes registration, pre-registrations, SOAR registrations, and drop/add class for students. Prepares and submits check requests, and requisitions. Processes faculty consulting forms and submits to the Office of the Dean. Maintains file for change of grade and course substitution forms. Assists students with registration activities. Maintains and monitors grants budgets, supplying data and statistics to the chair and other faculty for grant administration. Serves as liaison with adjunct faculty. Schedules and arranges meetings. Creates and maintains enrollment data. Calculates and prepares faculty workload reports each semester.
Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree required. Must be proficient in oral and written communications as well as various computer software applications. Must accept responsibility and perform duties in an atmosphere of team-like cooperation in a high traffic, busy-paced department.
Desired Qualifications: Experience in academic settings working with professional faculty and staff is preferred.
