We are accepting applications for a full-time position as Associate Director, Upward Bound Programs (East).
Responsibilities: The Associate Director for the Upward Bound Programs (East) is responsible for the day-to-day implementation and supervision of all program services and activities. The incumbent provides counseling and academic support services to Upward Bound participants in assigned high schools to increase the secondary graduation and the post-secondary enrollment rates. Incumbent makes home visits, provides counseling services for participants in academic, personal, social and career areas as needed; assesses Upward Bound participants' academic skills and designs individualized educational plans to remediate academic deficiencies and enhance academic strengths. He/she coordinates tutoring services, and enrichment sessions and provides academic support for students. Designs, evaluates, and teaches appropriate curriculum for academic year return trips and summer residential program.
Qualifications: Master's degree in education, guidance/counseling, social work, curriculum design/evaluation, mathematics, science or related field and two yearsÂ’ experience as a counselor or teacher. Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven interpersonal skills are essential.
Desired Qualifications: Previous experience in working with economically and educationally disadvantaged secondary students and designing curriculum for those students is desired. Supervisory experience is preferred
