SALARY

The minimum salary is $19.863 per hour
This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to supervise the daily operation of the division or department's recreation programs and activities of an assigned Community Center. 

This position serves on a team of five Recreation Supervisors who each supervise one of our Parks and Recreation Community Centers. This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, program planning, and part-time staff supervision of either the Castlewood or Kenwick Community Center. Successful candidates bring a background and passion in working with children, youth and families and along with creativity and innovation to lead meaningful programming for the community.

Work hours are 11A-8P Monday through Thursday, and 10A-7P on Friday. Some weekend and evening shifts are required. Candidates must be willing to work these shifts.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • No experience required
  • Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Enforces rules and regulations of recreational facilities to maintain discipline and ensure safety
  • Develops, implements, manages, administers and coordinates activities of assigned programs for youth and adults
  • Develops and maintains relationships with a diverse variety of local businesses, neighborhood associations, universities, vendors, coworkers, employees and general public
  • Engages with, creates and maintains third party partnerships to support the programming needs of the center
  • Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates the work of subordinates and volunteers
  • Administers, leads and/or supervises organized programs for youth and adults
  • Develops, prepares and provides various reports for division related to program goals, objectives, and performance
  • Provides communication, customer service, and response to all visitors and/or clients
  • Performs other work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Depending on area of assignment, must possess Food Manager Certification from the Kentucky Health Department
  • First Aid and CPR/AED Certification must be obtained within first six (6) months of employment

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work flexible hours and/or weekends, holidays, perform on-call duty, and split shifts when required.
