GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to serve as a team leader for labor-related activities of one (1) or more subordinates and/or work crews responsible for the general maintenance and repair of LFUCG facilities, equipment, grounds, and/or other labor-related activities depending on area of assignment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school, GED, or specialized vocational training; and, a minimum of four (4) years of experience related to expected role in area of assignment; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Supervises, schedules, and performs the labor-related activities of subordinates or work crews in response to on-going business operations, special assignments, and/or work orders; trains and evaluates the work of subordinates as assigned.
Evaluates and performs general landscaping, maintenance and repairs for parks, streets and roads, sewers, and/or other LFUCG properties and/or facilities depending on area of assignment.
Organizes, supervises, and participates in the moving and delivery of furniture, equipment and other assets, as needed; and, assists with equipment delivery, installation and setup at public functions and events, as needed.
Performs administrative duties related to goals, objectives and performance including but not limited to data entry and reporting; generating bids; and, preparing and projecting budgetary needs for required services.
Purchases and maintains inventory of supplies, parts and equipment.

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

Requires a Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - Class B (Allows you to operate single vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs or more OR a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 lbs. or more, towing trailers/vehicles rated at 10,000 pounds GVWR or less. A Class "B" license also allows you to operate Class C vehicles) and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate within the six (6) month probationary period and must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be accessible for on-call duty and be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned and during emergencies.
Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
All positions require drug testing before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
Pursuant to the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988 and to sections 21-52, 22-34 and 23-50 of the Code of Ordinances, all employees must remain drug and alcohol free when reporting to work, while at work and while engaged in any work related activities.
Based on Federal Regulations 19-10 this position may be eligible for and offered the hepatitis vaccinations. In addition, employees will be required to sign a statement stating they have accepted or declined the hepatitis vaccination.

EXAMINATION

EXAMINATION will be a training and experience evaluation from information provided on the application at filing deadline date weighted at 100% of the final score.
