SALARY
The minimum salary is $61,039.68 annually.
This position is not eligible for overtime (exempt); however, the city has a compensatory time leave program for employees that grants leave time for hours worked in excess of forty hours.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to develop, implement and administer the operational readiness of Emergency Management staff, equipment and facilities to be able to respond to and mitigate emergencies and disasters.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to the job
- Four (4) years of related experience
- Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience
- Additional years of related experience may substitute for years of education
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensures operational readiness of Fayette County¿s alert and warning systems
- Represents Emergency Management in various regional committees
- Completes administrative tasks and provides reporting
- Develops and maintains related plans, policies and protocols
- Assists in budget development; develops and prepares mitigation grants
- Serves as Emergency Operations Center Director during an emergency or pre-planned event
- Coordinates, supervises and evaluates the work of subordinates
- Responds to the field as needed or requested to various emergencies, incidents and events
- Serves as the Deputy Director and acts on behalf of the Division Director, as required
- Performs related work as assigned
- Deploys within the state as requested for emergency mutual aid by state authorities granted by local authority
- Maintains effective working relationships with departments, divisions, private/public entities, local governmental officials and the general public
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
- Valid driver's license
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must meet Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) training requirements within one (1) year of employment.
- All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
