SALARY

 

The minimum salary is $21.898 per hour

This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable.

Pay Grade 516

 

This position is eligible for Hazardous Duty Supplemental Pay ($90/month) and CDL pay ($1.08/hour).

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to transport and operate multiple pieces of equipment to and from the work site such as excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks, aerial equipment and other large machinery and tools required to complete various tasks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years related experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Loading and unloading equipment from vehicles used to transport it
  • Inspecting equipment before and after use to ensure safety
  • Driving and/or controlling heavy equipment to complete tasks at the construction site
  • Monitoring performance and adjusting settings as required to complete tasks correctly
  • Filling out performance records to report issues with equipment and track where and when it was used
  • Cleaning equipment after use and disposing of any collected scraps or waste
  • Completing major repair work/welding with heavy equipment as needed.
  •  Performs related work as assigned.

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

Requires a Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class A with an N endorsement and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate within six months and must be maintained as a condition of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be accessible to on-call duty and be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned and during emergencies
  • Positions are required to perform snow removal duties during weather emergencies.
  •          Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
  •          All positions require drug testing before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.

EXAMINATION

The applicant's training and experience will be evaluated based on the information provided by the filing deadline date on this job posting.  Applicants that meet the minimum requirements of this posting, will be invited to take the performance (Driving) examination.   After passing the examination, the applicant may be contacted for an interview.
