GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to perform fabrication, welding repair and preventative maintenance on Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government’s vehicles and equipment. This classification works under close supervision according to set procedures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school, GED, or specialized vocational training in automotive and/or equipment repair; and, a minimum of four (4) years of journeyperson automotive mechanic and welding experience; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Current valid Class B CDL license
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Repairs, maintains and/or operates vehicles and equipment, including preventative maintenance.
Fabricates parts and welds components as needed to make repairs.
Maintains records of work performed.
Cleans and maintains shop and equipment
Performs related work as assigned.
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - Class A (Allows you to operate any combination of vehicles with a gross combination weight rating (GCVR) of 26,001 or more pounds, provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds) with Endorsement N - Tank Vehicles (For vehicles designed to haul liquids or liquefied gases in bulk in permanently mounted tanks or portable tanks rated at 1,000 gallons or more.) and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate within six (6) months as a condition of permanent appointment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
May be subject to call-back duty.
Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
All positions require drug testing before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.

EXAMINATION
EXAMINATION will be a training and experience evaluation from information provided on the application at filing deadline date weighted at 100% of the final score.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to operate and maintain two (2) or more pieces of power construction or other heavy equipment to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, pour concrete or other hard surface pavement, and/or to clean and maintain the constructed environment; may supervise and train work crews.
This classification works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school, GED, or specialized vocational training; and, a minimum of four (4) years of experience operating heavy equipment; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operates equipment related to area of assignment
Inspects equipment for proper operating condition and makes minor repairs, as needed.
Coordinates major repairs and preventative maintenance with fleet services.
Performs routine clerical duties such as completing route sheets, notices, service requests and other forms as necessary.
