GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to operate and maintain two (2) or more pieces of power construction or other heavy equipment to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, pour concrete or other hard surface pavement, and/or to clean and maintain the constructed environment; may supervise and train work crews.
This classification works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school, GED, or specialized vocational training; and, a minimum of four (4) years of experience operating heavy equipment; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Requires a Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - Class B (Allows you to operate single vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 lbs or more OR a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 lbs. or more, towing trailers/vehicles rated at 10,000 pounds GVWR or less. A Class "B" license also allows you to operate Class C vehicles) with Endorsement N - Tank Vehicles (For vehicles designed to haul liquids or liquefied gases in bulk in permanently mounted tanks or portable tanks rated at 1,000 gallons or more.) and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner’s Certificate in order to qualify and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Operates equipment related to area of assignment - bucket truck and paint striper machine experience preferred.
Inspects equipment for proper operating condition and makes minor repairs, as needed.
Coordinates major repairs and preventative maintenance with fleet services.
Performs routine clerical duties such as completing route sheets, notices, service requests and other forms as necessary.
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Requires a Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) - Class B

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this classification is to supervise, assign, review and participate in the work of staff responsible for assigned traffic services. Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures, and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility. This classification works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in traffic engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering or a related engineering field; and, a minimum of six (6) years of experience in traffic engineering and or public work activities; of which two (2) of those years are in a management or supervisory capacity. Experience cannot be substituted for the educational requirement; however, a related Master’s Degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience, one (1) of which may also substitute for one (1) year of management or supervisory experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plans, organizes and directs the work activities for assigned section of the Division of Traffic Engineering. ¿
Administers, manages and evaluates the Neighborhood Traffic Management Program (NTMP). ¿
Reviews plans for compliance with specifications and Lexington Fayette Urban County Government regulations, procedures and standards. ¿
Performs traffic studies, evaluates traffic impacts and recommends solutions. ¿
Represents LFUCG and the division at various internal and external meetings, investigates issues, and answers questions from internal and external customers
Designs, acquires and issues permits, as required. ¿
SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Valid Driver’s License ¿
Must be registered as a state certified Professional Engineer. Those with an equivalency from another state must obtain a Professional Engineer registration from the Commonwealth of Kentucky within six (6) months of employment as a condition for permanent appointment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school, GED, or specialized vocational training; and, a minimum of four (4) years of experience repairing, cleaning, or installing sewer and storm water infrastructures; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervises, schedules, and performs the labor-related activities of subordinates or work crews in response to on-going business operations, special assignments, and/or work orders; trains and evaluates the work of subordinates as assigned.
- Evaluates and performs general landscaping, maintenance and repairs for parks, streets and roads, sewers, and/or other LFUCG properties and/or facilities depending on area of assignment.
- Organizes, supervises, and participates in the moving and delivery of furniture, equipment and other assets, as needed; and, assists with equipment delivery, installation and setup at public functions and events, as needed.
- Performs administrative duties related to goals, objectives and performance including but not limited to data entry and reporting; generating bids; and, preparing and projecting budgetary needs for required services.
- Purchases and maintains inventory of supplies, parts and equipment.

Associate’s degree, vocational technical degree, or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two (2) years of college education in construction, project management, engineering, architecture or related field; and, a minimum of four (4) years of experience in construction or engineering, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; business writing, reading/comprehending and interpreting complex construction documents, contracts and blueprints/diagrams; or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assists with the design of project activities; manages, directs, tracks, and reports on construction, maintenance, and/or repair project activities and researches ideas for improvement.
- Schedules and maintains records of inspections and work performed.
- Plans, trains, manages, and supervises the work of subordinates, contractors and/or work crews.
- Serves as primary contact on project(s) for consultants and the public.
- Audits and/or processes pay requests, prepares bid proposals, and performs other administrative duties as assigned.
Additional Duties:
- Monitors contracts to ensure compliance with the accepted construction and/or other documents, and all appropriate regulations, procedures and standards.
