SALARY

The minimum salary is $20.855 per hour
This position is eligible for overtime (non-exempt), if applicable.
Pay Grade 515

This position is eligible for Hazardous Duty Supplemental Pay ($90/month, $0.52c/hour) and CDL pay ($1.08/hour) upon hire.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The purpose of this classification is to operate and maintain two (2) or more pieces of power construction or other heavy equipment; may supervise and train work crews.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of related experience
  • Additional years of related education may substitute for years of related experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operates equipment related to area of assignment
  • Inspects equipment for proper operating condition and makes minor repairs, as needed
  • Coordinates major repairs and preventative maintenance with fleet services
  • Performs routine clerical duties such as completing route sheets, notices, service requests and other forms as necessary
  • Performs related work as assigned

SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION

  • Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class B with Endorsement N - and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate in order to qualify and must be maintained as a condition of employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be accessible to on-call duty and be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned and during emergencies.
  • Positions are required to perform snow removal duties during weather emergencies.
  • Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
  • All positions require drug testing before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.

EXAMINATION

The applicant's training and experience will be evaluated based on the information provided by the filing deadline date on this job posting.  Applicants that meet the minimum requirements of this posting, will be invited to take the performance (Driving) examination.   After passing the examination, the applicant may be contacted for an interview.
