WES Online Resource Writer (PT, Contract)
This work will begin in March 2019 and is to be completed by June 30, 2019.
As part of the creation of the CPB-funded Workplace Essential Skills online courses for adult learners, KET is contracting for production of a series of 10-17 virtual games or interactions. Three of the interactives will be needed for “Choose Your Resolution” activities for the Soft Skills online course. The other games/interactives will be related to math concepts and processes aligned to 7th – 9th grade math topics. The games will be based on 2 similar groups of mathematical facts/skills but contextualized to 7 different industry sectors.
The industry sectors are: Healthcare; Manufacturing; Transportation/Logistics; Information Technology; Construction; Hospitality/Tourism; and Marketing, Sales and Services.
These games/interactives must be user-friendly resources that work across a variety of platforms including computers, tablets, SmartBoards, and possibly iPods and smart phones. The primary target audience will be adult learners who are planning a career in one of the noted industries, or who hold an entry-level or near-entry-level position. A secondary audience will be high school students studying in a related pathway. The grant requires that all resources produced for the project reflect the needs of a diverse audience, e.g., minority groups, students with learning disabilities, second language learners, etc. and that the courses meet accessibility standards.
The WES Interactives Writer will:
• Become familiar with all content in the courses
• Deliver outlined ideas for interactives and games
• Attend meetings between KET and the external production company to initiate plans for specific online learning products
• Provide information and input on updates and changes
• Participate in the assessment of the quality of final products
• Update existing content relative to the interactives that are currently in the courses
