Executive Director Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY


The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, growth and culture of the
home health agency. The ED is responsible for the overall financial operations of the home health
agency. Along with the director of clinical services, the ED will promote high standards of quality clinical
care and financial success and manage all expenditures in a fiscally responsible manner. In collaboration
with the director of clinical services, the ED is responsible for the employment of qualified home health
personnel, the provision of home health services and the delegation and coordination of personnel
evaluations. The ED will establish and maintain standards of high quality care and customer service in
compliance with federal and state regulations and guidelines. The Ed will ensure the agency is in
compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulatory agencies and will take action
on reports and recommendations of any authorized planning, regulatory or inspection agencies.


ATTRIBUTES / QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Broad knowledge of home health federal and state regulations/administration is required. Excellent
organizational, problem solving, decision making, presentation and communications skills are a must.


REPORTS TO
Hayswood Home Health Board of Directors.


REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Prior Home Health operations management. Bachelor’s degree or higher in business or health related
field, or equivalent experience and knowledge. Prior experience with budgetary responsibilities
including budget development and monitoring is required. Transparent and high integrity leadership.
Strong written and oral communication skills.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
STAFF MANAGEMENT
 Translates the company’s mission, vision and values into day to day activities and behaviors;
guides and motivates others to take actions that also support the mission, vision and values of
the agency.
 Takes actions, makes decision in collaboration with other department heads when appropriate,
shapes teams or groups to achieve operational goals.
 Manages the operations of the staff in achievement of operational goals.
 Hire, develop and retain staff in collaboration with other department heads.
 Collaborates with department heads to ensure effective and ongoing on the job training of
employees, evaluates and records individual performance, provides coaching and counseling
and makes appropriate recommendations.
 Establishes criteria and/or work procedures to achieve a high level of quality, productivity or
service.
 Foster an organizational culture that reflects the agency’s values of diversity, equity, inclusion,
social justice, innovation and collaboration.
 Establish and maintain effective channels of communication
FISCAL OVERSIGHT
 Ensure an appropriate accounting system and adherence to agency financial policies
 In cooperation with other department heads, develop an annual operational budget for board
approval, monitor and prudently manage resources based on the budget.
 Ensure the development of financial statements with regular reviews by the Board of Directors
BOARD RELATIONS AND SUPPORT
 In cooperation with the board of directors, plan and implement effective board meetings
 Work in partnership with board officers to ensure effective board member orientation and
integration.
 Establish and maintain effective channels of communication
 Ensure that the Board of Directors are well informed on critical issues.
