Quality innovative raw materials, design & develop new products, research new advancements in adhesives, & improve existing products through disciplined project management. Focuses on Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) Tapes for the Building & Construction industry, in particular vapor barrier & seaming tapes. Exercises technical discretion in the design, execution & interpretation of experiments that contribute to project strategies. Prepares technical report summaries, protocols & quantitative analysis. Contributes to project scopes within the incumbent's scientific discipline through independent experiments. Knowledge of ASTM standards & PSTC methods to support product testing when needed. Responsible for research, development, design, execution, & interpretation of experiments that contributes to product strategies. Investigates, creates & develops new methods & technologies for project advancement. Development, planning, & implementation of new & or improved product programs/processes. Identify new materials, test methods, & processes & implement into product development/improvement programs (CIPs). Run trials through design of experiments in the lab, pilot plant, & on production lines during development & scale up. Pressure sensitive adhesive tape product design & development starting from concept creation to launch effectively using the Stage-Gate Process for Project Management. Solution development, feasibility assessment, prototype development for customer evaluation, manufacturing scale up & meeting product release plans. Leading projects with cross-functional teams including operations, sales, marketing, regulatory & quality to ensure product specifications are met with cost effective & technically strong solutions. Providing technical support to commercial & manufacturing teams through specification tests, product qualifications & recommendations. Effectively incorporating the use of lean & Six Sigma tools in data analysis in cost improvement & sustainment initiatives. Interacting closely with key internal & external manufacturers & suppliers to deliver high-quality inputs for new products. Requires: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials or Polymer Science/Engineering required & 2 years of years of research training in polymeric materials.
