CHIEF DEPUTY AUDITOR-CONTROLLER DESCRIPTION: The Monterey County Auditor-Controller seeks a results oriented professional to manage, plan, organize and direct the work of the department's Internal Audit Division. The incumbent must represent the Auditor-Controller's Office with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism. DEPARTMENT: The Auditor-Controller is an elected official who provides the County of Monterey with financial leadership and expert advice on a wide range of fiscal matters, and advocates financial integrity and accountability in all County business practices. The department consists of five divisions: Administration, Systems, General Accounting, Internal Audit, and Disbursements (Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Property Tax). Examples of Duties THE IDEAL CANDIDATE Will have a proven track record demonstrating knowledge of: Auditing and accounting principles, practices, and procedures Principles and methods of public finance administration Principles and methods of management, including work planning, analysis, and organization Principles and practices of supervision and training Computerized data processing as it relates to auditing, accounting, and fiscal operations and management information systems Quantitative Analysis State and Federal laws and regulations governing the financial operations of local government, including those affecting fiscal operations, public finance, and financial reporting The successful applicant will have the ability to: Plan, organize, direct, manage, and evaluate the Internal Audit Division of the Auditor-Controller's Office Analyze, evaluate, and solve complex audit, accounting, fiscal, and administrative problems Select, supervise, train, and evaluate the performance of professional and technical staff Prepare, clear and concise audit reports Prepare, review, interpret, explain, and apply complex fiscal data and reports Communicate effectively both orally and in writing Establish and maintain effective working relationships, and provide excellent customer service PLEASE visit our website at: www.co.monterey.ca.us/personnel EOE
