Job Summary:
The School of Education and Counseling (SEC) in the Levin College of Public Affairs and Education at Cleveland State University is seeking an experienced and engaging teacher educator of the highest caliber to fill a visiting faculty position at the rank of Assistant College Lecturer of Special Education in the Teacher Licensure program, starting August 18, 2025. The term of the appointment shall be for one academic year, and may be renewable for up to two additional years.
The successful candidate will work across multiple licensure bands in our degree and licensure programs. Our diverse student body earn their degree with initial license in our undergraduate and masters’ degree programs. We also offer post-baccalaureate initial licensure, endorsement programs and advanced licensure programs.
The successful candidate will teach special education courses based on a 4-4 teaching load (4 courses in Fall; 4 courses in Spring). Some of the courses may be taught online. Clinical supervision of candidates seeking initial teacher licensure in early and final student-teaching experiences in our urban and inner-ring partner school districts will be included as part of the workload. In addition, service to the university will be expected in line with the faculty member's professional interests, the governance of the University, the standards of the faculty member's discipline, or the welfare of the civic community.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in special education or related field;
- Three years teaching experience at the K-12 education or equivalent;
- Ability to travel to partner school sites for supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Earned Doctorate in K-12 Special Education or related field;
- Experience working with Moderate/Intensive populations;
- Interest in and experience with teaching in higher education settings;
- Ten years of experience teaching special education in K-12 settings or equivalent;
- Experience working with urban populations;
- Experience in teacher education program design;
- Experience designing and teaching online courses.
