Minimum Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be eligible to work in the US
- Valid driver's license
Candidate Physical Ability Test
All applicants must be CPAT certified before their appointment date. The City of Bowling Green will host a CPAT testing session during the application process. Applicants can elect to participate in this CPAT test however they may obtain the CPAT certification anywhere testing is offered.
The CPAT is a pass/fail timed test which consists of eight separate events (stair climb, hose drag, equipment carry, ladder raise and extension, forcible entry, search, rescue, and ceiling breach and pull). The test is a sequence of events that requires the candidate to progress along a predetermined path from event to event in a continuous manner.

TOTAL COMPENSATION $72,333 - $82,458 ANNUALLY
(amount is an approximation dependent on employee elections)
SALARY:
$41,070 starting salary
$4,000 after completing training
EMT Certification Pay $1600 annually

DUTIES: Provides protection of life and property through general firefighting activities. Duties and responsibilities include performing general firefighting; handling hazardous materials, and man-made and natural disasters; performing routine maintenance work in the upkeep of equipment and fire station; conducting inspections; and completing routine clerical work.
REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
- Age 18 by your written test date.
- Good driving, police, personal and employment record
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's License
- Males between ages 18-26 need to be registered with Selective Services
IMPORTANT NOTICE: It is the applicant’s responsibility to obtain CPAT certification before the job offer date. At the moment (due to COVID-19) the City of Bowling Green will NOT be hosting a CPAT Certification Event. IF/WHEN that changes applicants will be notified via email of the CPAT dates.
SALARY: $41,070 ($45,070 upon completion of basic training) plus a full benefits package
HOURS: After training, one will work one 24 – hour shift and be off 48 hours. The work day starts at 7:00 a.m.
