(Extensive Travel Involved – Some nights/weekends)
Called to serve the people of Appalachia. For over 60 years, the Christian Appalachian Project has served the
people of Appalachia by building hope, transforming lives, and sharing Christ’s love. Through donor support, dedicated volunteers, and a selfless staff, CAP now touches the lives of more than 1 million people each year. By working with other local food banks and humanitarian service providers, our reach extends to parts of all 13 states of the Appalachian region. The Role:
Are you called to the greater purpose of helping people in need? Do you have the skills and drive to work in a
dynamic, robust, and growing philanthropy department? That’s what you need to work at CAP, the Christian
Appalachian Project. We are a recognized national philanthropic organization that helps people in need in the
Appalachian region.
We are seeking a Major Gifts Officer to set an elite standard of working with donors to discover, cultivate,
invite, and steward them through their giving journey, serving as CAP’s ambassador to share our mission in
Appalachia with an emphasis on securing gifts of $5,000 or greater from a portfolio of some of our nation’s
most generous and thoughtful philanthropists. Our Major Gift Officer is responsible for developing and
implementing solicitation strategies, fulfilling annual activity outcomes, maintaining donors’ databases, and
reporting. An entrepreneurial spirit, excellent communication skills, and a passion to travel and speak
passionately on behalf of the mission and values of the Christian Appalachian Project and its human services
programs will be essential to your success. You will work hand-in-hand with our experienced philanthropy team, participate in team-related activities, share best practices, follow through on assigned tasks, and create synergy. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 4 or more years of successful experience in a related field or a combination of education and experience.
