Advance Local is looking for a Producer to join our Digital Operations team focused on our websites and digital products. In this position, your focus will be ensuring that all platforms reflect the best content available, by monitoring the latest feeds from newsrooms and promoting it in an engaging way using any available tools and techniques. This position will carefully follow plans presented by Digital Operations Leads and managers, while using the best news judgment to pivot based on breaking news and audience reactions.           

In this role, you will:

  • Continuously monitor content feeds and proactively promote stories in appropriate areas, writing accurate and engaging teases.
  • Ensure content platforms, including site, apps, and new products, reflect the best content available and the content is optimized for each platform. Keeps stakeholders informed promotion opportunities and promotion decisions.
  • Anticipate audience wants based on events, past metrics and react to new audience behaviors.
  • Support newsrooms in issues related to content production, troubleshooting and resolving issues and ensuring the smooth flow of content and multimedia elements to the website, apps and emerging platforms. Communicate with Support to resolve technical issues.
  • Seek opportunities to create or share content via syndication or other emerging platform needs when appropriate and relevant.
  • Provide timely and viable responses to urgent tech support tickets, elevating issues as appropriate. Troubleshoot and resolve issues and roadblocks within outlined parameters.
  • Monitor requests for social media content sharing from newsrooms, addressing urgent social shares from local newsroom managers.
  • Within established parameters, make sound decisions, generate accurate work, and offer considerate reasoning for decisions made during their shift.

For this position we’re looking for candidates with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications or related field preferred
  • Minimum two years’ journalism experience, including familiarity with content optimization
  • Familiarity with audience engagement metrics across platforms (Google Analytics, Parsely, etc.) and an ability to translate them into actionable data
  • Ability to manage multiple high-level tasks and prioritize work
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively and build strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication, presentation and analytical skills
  • Able to make sound decisions and produce accurate work on deadline
  • Ability to work independently under deadline pressure
  • Solid understanding of journalistic ethics
  • Technical troubleshooting skills to identify root cause of issues
