Immediate Supervisor: Director of Fund Development
Subordinate Staff: None
Salary: Commensurate with experience

Location: Remote Position [Must be based in West Palm, Broward, or Miami-Dade counties.]

JOB SUMMARY 

The Florida Justice Association (FJA) is looking to hire an accomplished professional to be an essential member of its Fund Development Team.

This position is primarily responsible for securing major financial support towards the operational and political budgets. This individual will travel frequently interacting with professionals in the legal community and acting as an interpersonal liaison for the organization’s members, leaders, major donors, and business partners. The individual should be bottom line oriented with ability to make deadlines and work under pressure. This position is based in South Florida and requires extensive travel.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Organizes assigned region for effective fundraising for political campaigns, high level membership contributions known as EAGLE, and issue campaigns to provide leadership and structure for fundraising and outreach activities.
  • Responsible for reaching fundraising goals on both immediate and long-term basis by identifying, cultivating, and recruiting fundraising leaders throughout the region. Responsible for keeping Board members and Officers informed and engaged in the activities related to achieving fundraising goals.
  • Schedules appointments and personal contacts with members and contributors to FJ PAC, EAGLE and Business Friends of EAGLE, and initiates follow-up calls, visits and assistance to volunteer solicitors as required.
  • Responsible for coordinating field activities including phone banks, business introductions, leadership visits, and utilizing field contacts to secure information and intelligence relevant to FJA and FJ PAC success.
  • Facilitates in the processing of membership and EAGLE applications and approval for the region.
  • Researches and cultivates prospects for membership, member upgrades to EAGLE, business partner memberships, and FJ PAC contributors.
  • Assists in coordinating legislative and political briefings as well as a myriad of FJA related functions including but not limited to happy hours, sponsorship dinners, local continuing education, charitable/holiday receptions and other community events.  Secures sponsors for various FJA events and needs.
  • Serves as a staff liaison to local trial lawyer associations to keep them apprised of FJA activities.
  • Responsible for analyzing contribution and billing reports, conducting monthly and annual projections, scheduling Business EAGLE introductions and call time with FJA Board, Vanguard and Task Force members.
  • Work with members in the region to explore and secure seminar speaking and other engagement opportunities for local members.
  • Attends the following committee meetings: FJ PAC Regional Task Force; FJ PAC Vanguard; EAGLE Development Task Force; Membership Committee, FJ PAC Trustees and Executive Committee.
  • Keeps current and informed on legislative activity and political goals and local races of interest to the region to keep membership informed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  • 3-5 years of high-end fundraising experience with Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy and organization in their work product.
  • Self-starter comfortable working without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrable ability to multi-task with good organization, time management skills, and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to skillfully use Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and iPad presentations.
  • Extensive travel required.
