Job Description

Healix Infusion Care is Urgently Hiring a Registered Full Time Infusion Nurse to coordinate and administer patient care services at one of our Infusion Centers located in Wexford, PA!  Infusion Nurses are partners in patient care with our Nurse Practitioners and Medical Director. The essential job duties and everyday responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Coordinates and provides the delivery of patient services and the management of the Ambulatory Infusion Center by performing the following duties personally.

Newly hired RN will be eligible for a $5K employment bonus with a 1-year commitment!

General Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of new patient admissions with the support of the corporate nursing and business office teams.
  • Access PICC lines for administration of intravenous medication.
  • Preparation of medication to be administered to patients in an infusion center setting.
  • Patient and caregiver education regarding infusion drug therapy information.
  • Clinical monitoring of patient treatment, progression, safety, and outcomes.
  • Communicating care with infusion center staff, corporate nursing support team, business office, and client services to ensure patients receive the highest level of care.
  • Management of onsite nursing functions including patient scheduling, daily service charting, inventory management, and coordination of follow-up care with physicians.

Infusion Center Job Details:

  • Understands and conforms to the rules and regulations affecting the Nurse current area of practice including federal, state, and local laws.
  • Manage multiple medical infusion patients concurrently, as schedule.
  • Know the rationale for and the effects of medications and treatments and correctly administer the same.
  • Accurately and completely report and document patient’s status including signs, symptoms, and responses; care rendered, Physician orders and Nurse Practitioners orders, administration of medications and treatments                                         
  • Report unsafe nursing practice which a clinician has reasonable cause to suspect has exposed or is likely to expose a patient unnecessarily to risk of harm because of failing to provide patient care that conforms to the minimum standards of acceptable and prevailing professional practice.
  • Ensures quality and safe delivery of AIC care service.
    • The Ambulatory Infusion Center (AIC) is guided by policies, procedures, and standards of clinical practice
    • Understands and implements current standards of practice for infusion therapy.
    • Adheres to policies related to medication safety, including documentation of orders, correct administration, double check procedures and other established policies and practices.
    • Understands use of products and equipment.
    • Observes and monitors OSHA, infection control, and safety policies.
  • Drug Preparation and Management
    • ​​​​​​​Manage or assist with drug ordering, appropriate receiving and proper storage of drugs.
    • Maintains proper technique is used in the preparation of sterile products.
    • Ensures that the mixing area is clean, neat, and orderly at all times
    • Works to ensure accuracy of information recorded for proper patient billing.
    • Ensure that all purchasing invoices and inventory records are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
    • Management of onsite nursing functions including patient scheduling, daily service charting, inventory management, and coordination of follow-up care with physicians.
  • Patient Assistance
    • ​​​​​​​Coordination of new patient admissions with the support of the in-center staff and centralized nursing and operations staff.
    • Patient and caregiver education regarding infusion drug therapy information
    • Communicate care with referring provider staff, corporate nursing support team, and operations to ensure patients receive the highest level of care.
  •  General Center Management
    • ​​​​​​​Supports center operations by answering phones, general center cleanliness, prepares and sanitizes patient areas before arrival and between appointments, restock patient areas for refreshment, as needed.
    • Communicates recommendations and requirements for additional services to appropriate individuals in a timely manner.
    • Consistently addresses and communicates patient concerns to the supervising NP and AIC staff, as necessary.
    • Completes job tasks on time by planning and organizing the schedule of activities

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in nursing (ADN).
  • 2+ years’ experience working as a registered nurse in a clinical setting preferred.
  • Critical care or outpatient/homecare infusion experience preferred.
  • Recent intravenous administration and catheter management experience.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills is a must to ensure nursing professional meet our physicians expectations.
  • Ability to work independently at the site location, and in-partnership with the corporate clinical team, and within physician practice expectations.

License and Certifications

  • State Board of Nursing Licensed; active and unencumbered.
  • Must possess valid basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • CRNI, VA-BC, OCN preferred.
