Job Description

Position overview

Duckstein Restoration, since 1971, is a family-owned and operated construction company specializing in commercial and residential insurance restoration. Disaster Restoration has become an increasingly needed service throughout our area as well as the entire country. We are expanding our team and looking to hire an experienced Large Loss Estimator and/or Project Manager. The primary purpose of this role is to inspect, estimate, and settle large loss claims ($50,000 to $1,000,000+) in an efficient manner to restore our client’s home as quickly and effectively as possible to a pre-loss condition.

The Large loss estimator & project manager supports sales by obtaining contracts from clients and writing an accurate scope of work. The estimator is responsible for writing detailed estimates in Xactimate & CoreLogic Mobile Claims, negotiating with insurance carriers, and keeping the client informed. After approval of a scope of work, this individual will oversee the production of the job from demolition and permits to punch list and everything in between.


The ideal candidate would be firm but fair, lead by example, work well with others, have exemplary communication skills, have sufficient knowledge in construction and building best practices, and strive to continually improve both themselves as well as their department.


Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Visiting job sites for initial inspections to complete estimates and scopes of work for restoration claims.
  • Utilizing insurance specific estimating programs such as Xactimate & Mobile Claims. Experience in these programs is preferred but not required.
  • Obtain bids/pricing from subcontractors & suppliers as needed.
  • Negotiation with Insurance Carriers on scope of work.
  • Managing / scheduling your time wisely to be efficient.
  • Office Administration - updating job notes, department meetings, etc.
  • Manage, monitor, and report on schedule, budget, quality, and client relations, along with all construction.
  • Subcontracts, job costs, &profitability.
  • Must be able to outline performance requirements/scope of work for subcontractors, handle purchase orders, change orders, contracts, and hold accountability.
  • Conflict resolution.
  • Oversee production of job from start to finish.
  • Effective & frequent communication with customers.
  • Willingness to perform duties and/or responsibilities that fall outside your general job description for the betterment of the Duckstein Team.
