Job Description

Pillar Health is looking for a full-time, experienced Pediatric Practice Nurse Practitioner.

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide the full scope of services, including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care, and health maintenance to pediatric patients, regardless of age or sex, on a continuing basis. Manage health problems and coordinate health care for the patient in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status).

Provides pediatric treatment to KCHC patients as evidenced by compliance with the following standards:

  • Reviews patient file/record, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status.
  • Elicits and records information about patient's medical history.
  • Examines patients for symptoms or physical information.
  • Orders or executes various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient's condition.
  • Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses condition of patient.
  • Administers or prescribes treatments.
  • Determines and prescribes medication, dosage, and schedule given the patient's condition and allergies.
  • Discusses any possible side effects and alternative treatment options to medication or immunization with patient.
  • Prescribes vaccinations to immunize patient from communicable diseases.
  • Promotes health by advising patients about diet, exercise, hygiene, and methods for prevention of disease, including STDs.
  • Provides prenatal care to pregnant women and provides postnatal care to mothers and infants.
  • Refers patients to medical specialist for consultant services when necessary for patient's well-being.
  • Documents the patient's visit including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, and plan of action.
  • Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admission to school or eligibility for insurance coverage.
  • Maintain Pediatric Program Requirements
  • Ensure maintenance of inventory of supplies, medications, immunizations, etc. at all clinical locations and approve supply requisitions to ensure compliance with VFC program standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough knowledge about the various medical processes and procedures
  • Strong Computer skills including Word, Excel and Power Point

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Degree from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
  • Minimum of two years of experience is required.
  • Must be licensed to practice in the state of Wisconsin, have a valid DEA certificate, and a current CPR certification. Board certification preferred, board eligible required. Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
  • BLS certified

Physical/Environmental

  • Sitting greater than 50% of the time
  • Walking and standing less than 50% of the time
  • Occasional bending and lifting
