Loan Accounting Manager - REMOTE / Work From Home

(Will need to travel to our Dulles, VA office once a month)

CFC has a need for a Loan Accounting and Operations Manager to join the Accounting team. The Loan Accounting and Operations Manager performs a variety of functions such as reviewing various loan accounting reports, journal entries, reconciliations and processing transactions. This position is also responsible for loan servicing and operations including servicing of loans sold and syndications. The Loan Accounting and Operations Manager has strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles that can be applied to assigned tasks and will work independently and provide accurate and timely responses to inquiries from both members and employees, demonstrating outstanding service.

As a Loan Accounting and Operations Manager, you will:

  • Manage all aspects of loan operations including loan servicing and sub ledger activities.
  • Process multiple loan accounting monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Complete monthly loan accounting close procedures and deliverables that includes journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and reports in compliance with US GAAP.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording and reporting of loan related transactions in accordance with accounting standards and internal documentation standards.
  • Work with loan system-related vendors or consultants on system implementation and troubleshooting issues.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of new loan and lease programs.
  • Monitor and resolve issues and establish appropriate controls for loan accounting and loan operations.
  • Actively identify process improvement opportunities and assist in developing solutions for loan accounting processes.
  • Work closely with others on the accounting operations team, the SEC Reporting and Accounting Policy teams, and with various business units throughout the organization to understand the Company’s loan portfolio, lending initiatives and loan transactions to ensure timely and accurate internal and external reporting.
  • Provide leadership to the team, be proactive, ensure the team is cross-trained, and actively work on succession planning.


To be successful, you will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or a related field required.
  • Five years of progressive experience in loan accounting and servicing.
  • Previous experience with managing and supervising a team is required.
  • Previous experience in commercial loan operations and accounting with increasing level of supervisory/manager responsibility.
  • Prior experience in financial institutions is preferred. Knowledge of loan servicing systems such as ACBS.
  • Advanced knowledge of and the ability to apply financial and accounting principles, US GAAP.
  • Advanced knowledge of standard commercial lending concepts, practices, and procedures and financial reports.
  • Advanced MS Office skills
