Linux Engineer

Job Description

Forge Forward is looking for a Linux Engineer to support a client in the DC Metro Area at the Naval Observatory. This position will require on-site work 4 days a week. US citizenship is required as this position requires a security clearance.

Minimum 7 years' total experience with C4I systems with specific focus on development, administration, and sustainment of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems. Will implement, secure, and maintain the development and production environments. Will lead testing events to ensure configuration and security settings. Will troubleshoot field systems, test new systems/configurations in a lab environment, and actively participate in technical meetings. Will ensure systems are in compliance with DISA STIGs in addition to perform ACAS scans. Candidate will have privileged access and must meet DoD Cybersecurity Workforce IAT Level II certification requirements.

Requirements:
-Minimum 7 years' total experience with C4I systems with specific focus on development, administration, and sustainment of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related technical field.
-CompTIA Linux+ certification.
-CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
-US citizen with active Secret clearance with a current SSBI/T5 investigation. Current TS/SCI desired.

-Strong written and oral communication, organizational, research, and interpersonal skills. -Demonstrated typing proficiency and expert knowledge of MS Office suite, MS Visio, and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
-Accuracy, attention to detail, consistency, and clarity in conformance with required formats and standards.
-Ability to work effectively in both a team environment and individually.
-Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
-Experience running vulnerability scans.
-Experience with storage solutions experience (netapp, VMware, Dell).
- Independently troubleshoot technical problems by analyzing the problem and applying a methodology to resolve the problem.
-Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

Desired Skills:
-Familiarity with Navy and Joint networking architectures.
