SMS Staffing Inc is Hiring Immediately for a skilled Scientist!

Job Title: Scientist II

Job Location: St. Paul, MN, U.S.A. 55117

Job Type: Contract (possible extension or convert to hire)

Pay: Starts at $49.00 an hour

Shift Structure: ONSITE, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week

The role of the Scientist II: Will work within a team focused on the chemical characterization of medical devices in a highly regulated environment. The position will report to a chemistry supervisor or manager. The position is hands-on and laboratory focused, entailing all aspects of chemical characterization from sample receipt to data reporting.

Sample handling
Sample preparation (solid/liquid, liquid/liquid extraction)
Operation of analytical balance, incubator/shaker, ovens, pH meters, and microscopes
Analysis with oversight may include GC/MS, LC/MS, ICP-MS, and FTIR
Execution and documentation of work adhering to good documentation practices (GDP), good laboratory practices (GLP), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Document, analyze, report, and review data in electronic lab notebook system
Adhere to all lab safety requirements

About the Scientist II:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

BA or BS in chemistry
Minimum of 2 years of experience performing extractions for chromatographic analysis
Experience with Extractable and Leachable analysis
Knowledge/experience with GC/MS
Knowledge of ISO 10993 Part 18
Experience with any of the following software systems: Mass hunter, Empower, Chromeleon, Excalibur
Ability to perform standard mathematical/statistical calculations in Microsoft Excel
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate effectively with chemistry team and management
Knowledge and application of GDP, GLP, and GMP
Ability to follow direction and be effective with some supervision
Knowledge and application of Microsoft suite of applications
