At the Port of Seattle, we anticipate making salary offers between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range. Offers will be based on experience similar to the Port job being applied for as well as a review of pay rates for Port employees performing similar work. Salary ranges are under review and subject to change.

As the Aviation and Compliance Training Manager, you will devise and manage the design, development, and delivery of complex aviation-related training programs, projects, and learning technologies.

  • You will select, coach, mentor, and train direct report staff and lead the work of consultants, trainers, and subject matter experts.
  • You will provide continuous performance management, conduct employee performance evaluations, clarify expectations, and provide feedback.
  • You will maintain and enhance the processes related to training and learning programs, which includes process documentation, team guidelines, and regulatory/compliance documentation.
  • You will work with airport regulatory training stakeholders to identify needs and forecast timelines in support of their operations and staff and monitor and interpret changes in laws, regulations, and guidance related to assigned training programs and evaluate impact to the Port and appropriate content for affected Aviation functions.
  • You will develop curriculum, technical manuals/content, job aids, and assessment tools and design training which includes both online learning and live instructor led solutions ensuring that compliance is consistently met.
  • You will design, implement, and manage ongoing training resources, budget, and projects in order to meet learning goals and deadlines.
  • You will prepare/conduct presentations to upper management, Commission and Executive, tenant leaders and others and deliver new and recurrent training content related to Port-owned systems and facilities through classroom and virtual delivery.
  • You will serve as a member of the department's on-call leadership team to provide customer service guidance during events that impact routine airport operations.


Who you are:

  • Experienced - You have five (5) years' experience of in-person instructional and/or virtual eLearning design and training and two (2) years of staff supervisory experience.
  • Educated - You possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Desired - We hope you have an eLearning or Instructional Design certificate, Public Speaker, Trainer, or Virtual Instructor certificate, and knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) FAR 139.

What else you need to know:

  • Work Schedule - Your normal work schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. You will serve as a member of the department's leadership on-call rotational team and may be required to work during emergencies.
  • Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid/in-office setting at Management's discretion.
  • Grade Review - The pay range and grade for non-represented positions are under review and subject to change as part of the Port's work to implement a new pay program. This review is intended to ensure that positions are aligned with the new program that will be implemented in early 2024.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement - Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • Security Requirements - As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
