Summer Camp Manager

We are a mobile STEM enrichment program. This summer we will be offering camps at various locations in Fairfax county. We are looking to hire a Mobile Camp Manager that will be responsible for helping us with running our office and summer camps. This is a temporary position starting immediately and lasting for 4 months, ending mid August, 2024. The Camp Manager will be responsible for supervising staff, updating schedules, and ensuring a positive camp experience for all participants. This role requires visiting various camp locations throughout Fairfax County, monitoring staff performance, and dedicating a few hours on Saturdays to prepare for the upcoming week.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the summer camp program, ensuring a safe, fun, and engaging environment for all participants.
• Preparing materials for camps
• Visit camp locations across Fairfax County to observe staff performance, address any concerns, and provide feedback and support as needed.
• Collaborate with the camp staff to update and adjust schedules, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and a balanced program for campers.
• Maintain regular communication with camp staff, addressing inquiries, and resolving any issues that may arise during the camp program.
• Coordinate with camp instructors and specialists to ensure they have the necessary resources and support to deliver high-quality programs.
• Ensure adherence to camp policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to guarantee the well-being of all participants.
• Conduct regular evaluations of camp activities, seeking feedback from campers, parents, and staff to continually improve the program.
• Should be comfortable commuting to various locations in Fairfax county (mileage is paid)

Minimum Job Qualifications

• Previous experience in managing summer camp programs or similar youth-focused activities is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with camp staff, campers, and parents.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of camp safety guidelines and regulations.
• Familiarity with Fairfax County and ability to travel to various camp locations.
• Flexibility to work weekends and dedicate a few hours on Saturdays to prepare for the following week's activities.
• Be physically able to lift items up to 40 pounds.
