We're an award-winning IT solutions provider to the Federal government seeking a Systems Administrator to work with our government client to develop, deploy, maintain, and administer Linux and Windows operating system software.

This is a fully remote position however, the selected candidate must be able to come to Washington, D.C. to pick up their equipment and for occasional on-site project work.

US Citizenship is required for this role. In addition, the selected applicant must submit to a government background investigation and be favorably adjudicated before their first day.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform most system administration activities during the system-wide maintenance window
  • Troubleshoot and correct server issues by using log files, Zabbix, and other troubleshooting tools and techniques
  • Apply patches using Satellite, DNF, and subscription services and troubleshoot and correct any restart issues
  • Perform operational activities on an iSCSI SAN ( e.g. create and remove SAN volumes, increase or decrease volumes, and data recovery from SAN snapshots)
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain virtual machines, including patches and upgrades
  • Responsible for all OS support systems such as NTP, LDAP, SSSD & AD Configurations list.
  • Develop, deploy, and maintain application framework software
  • Monitor server and network availability and security
  • Keep up to date with best practices and skills and learn and grow expertise
  • Where applicable, support the development team in the stand-up and maintenance of deployment DevOps pipelines for continuous integration and continuous deployment
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance software tools for facilitating Linux and Windows system administration tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • 7 years of experience in Linux system administration and infrastructure support for web-based applications, focused on Linux
  • Experience in the deployment and maintenance of application frameworks
  • Expertise in IT security implementation and compliance in a Federal government environment
  • 1-2 years of experience working with a SAN
  • 1-2 years of experience working with Zabbix or similar monitoring tools
  • 1-2 years of experience working with iLO or iDRAC
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills locating the source of issues, reviewing errors to properly escalate for resolution
  • Must be able to work independently on standard O&M administration activities and well within a team on larger projects
  • Willingness to support maintenance windows typically during non-business hours
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation
  • Comfort working directly with senior Federal technical staff
  • Independent problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, creativity and a "helping others helps us all" personality

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with RedHat Satellite 6 including creating content views and host groups.
  • Experience with using Puppet
  • Experience with Bash and Python scripting
  • Experience as a Windows System Administration including with HyperV
  • Experience with QEMU Hypervisor, HyperV or other virtualization tools
  • Experience reading TCP dumps
  • Knowledge of IP Tables
  • RedHat certification

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Computer Science, Information Technology, or related preferred). Experience may be substituted in the absence of a degree

All individuals being hired to work for TCG must submit to, and successfully pass, a pre-employment background investigation prior to reporting for their first day of work.
