Job Description

Provide the company with technical expertise to achieve and maintain top tier performance in safety, health, environmental compliance, and security at all locations. Establish the critical indicators needed to measure progress. Take the initiative to lead the organization to achieve safety, health, environmental and security goals.


Essential Accountabilities

  1. Manage all safety programs/training and ensure all training is being done and within compliance guidelines.
  2. Conduct an annual site assessment for each location which will include the captive assessment, supporting documents relative to the assessment inquires and create an action plan to correct any non-compliance or safety concerns. Corrections must be completed in a timely manner.
  3. Ensure emergency action response program is continuously up to date while communicating and practicing the program in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  4. Monitor, develop, implement, and maintain environmental compliance in accordance with all applicable environmental agencies.
  5. Monitor and maintain compliance regarding proper handling, storage and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
  6. Investigate all work-related incidents and work with investigation team to develop corrective action items and ensure completion of corrective actions to reduce and prevent further incident occurrences.
  7. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local fire and loss prevention regulations.
  8. Represent the company by collecting data, presenting information at hearings; coordinating with claims adjusters, providing information to state, federal or local agencies regarding safety, health, or environmental compliance matters.
  9. Manage all workers compensation claims, to reduce lost time and restricted transfer incidents/ days by working with injured team members and their supervisors.
  10. Comply with Federal, State, and local safety health and environmental regulations including National Consensus Standards by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; interpreting standards; enforcing adherence to regulations; advising management on needed actions.
  11. Facilitate and manage safety and steering committees to ensure completion of safety improvements.
  12. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publication; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies to be a valuable safety resource Placon.
  13. Guide and promote safe work performance by developing safety systems, policies, and procedures, developing safety campaigns, communications, and recognition training managers and employees.
  14. Maintain and practice business continuity occurrences to ensure readiness in the event of an interruption to business because of a crisis that could affect company performance.
  15. Achieve financial objectives by preparing annual safety, health, environmental and security budgets, scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  16. Investigate, document, and identify corrective actions for all work-related incidents and safety concerns.
  17. Ensure proper recording/ reporting of all OSHA logs by maintaining accurate incident information.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Safety, Risk Management or related field and at least 5 years of work experience in a safety related field in a manufacturing environment.


Desired Skills

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to influence others by researching and gathering data and presenting facts and concepts in a concise manner.

Physical Requirements: Light work (lift 10 lbs):

Medium Work (lift 11-30 lbs.) Occasional - safety equipment and supplies Heavy Work (lift 31-50 lbs.) Other Physical Requirements: Ability to move freely through all areas of the plant and facilities. May include rooftops, silos, catwalks, etc. Mental Requirements Reading, writing calculating, interpersonal skills, reasoning/analysis, work with minimal supervision, ability to manage multiple priorities and manage complex projects.
