Job Title: Junior, Warehouse Assistant

Department: Warehouse

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

Date: 5/31/2023

FSLA Status: Non-exempt

Summary:

This position is responsible for assisting in the day-to-day activities in the warehouse which include sorting, pulling, inventorying, stocking, and maintaining product placement in the warehouse. This position is NOT approved for operating a company vehicle, forklift and/or working with hazardous chemicals/materials.

Core Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Helping Warehouse Assistants and Manager
  • Preload next day
  • Inventory counts
  • Special inventory projects

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Strategic Work

  • Inventory management control at multiple locations throughout the company.
  • Verify counts and pricing on shipments during the receiving and delivering of inventory.
  • Assist with the maintenance of cyclical inventory counting, bins, prices, and inventory lists.
  • Assist with maintaining the warehouse, vehicles, tools, equipment, and grounds.
  • Assist in product and material research for technicians including determining price and availability of products.
  • Assisting technicians.
  • Participates in quality improvement efforts.
  • Performs required administrative tasks; prepares all required reports and correspondence.

Tactical Work:

  • Performs quality inspections on incoming and outgoing materials and products.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined inventory procedures.
  • Picks, packs, and ships materials and products.
  • Daily replenishing of technicians’ equipment and supplies
  • Able to locate warehouse inventory quickly.
  • Must follow all OSHA, state, and local safety rules.
  • Maintains a safe, clean working environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Regular, predictable on-site attendance is expected.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be able to work on a computer.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must be able to talk and/or listen both on the phone or radio, and/or face-to-face for long periods of time.
  • Must have good communication skills to interact with customers and coworkers.

SKILLS and REASONING ABILITY:

  • Must be able to operate safely miscellaneous tools of the trade.
  • Must be able to work on several projects at once and be able to handle frequent interruptions, either from coworkers, customers, the telephone, or radios.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Must have command of all five senses sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

This position will require working indoors and outdoors in various climate conditions ranging from very cold with rain to very hot and humid. This may include crawl spaces, and confined locations. The employee may be called upon to be in customer or service production sites on an as need to basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

The work is primarily performed on company premises, which are to be considered non-smoking areas along with customer job sites and company vehicles. May occasionally be required to assist on customer job sites. There may be possible exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, moderate to high noise levels and/or moving mechanical parts.

A typical workweek is eight (8) hour workdays, five (5) days per week with some weekend work, as well as early and/or late weekday meetings with staff personnel as needed. You may not work after 11:00pm on evenings before school days or before 5:00am on school days.

This position may deal with aggressive personalities in a highly competitive industry and will be stressful. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
