Area Service Sales Representative Trainee

(Outside Sales- NY)

 

 

JOB DIMENSIONS:

 

Job Summary:

            Under general supervision, installs, services, repairs, and warranties product on site; schedules and performs maintenance and field sales support work; actively promotes growth of the territory; ensures all ongoing service needs are met with a sense of urgency and professionalism while maintaining the highest safety, quality, and cost effectiveness; partners with sales to drive new growth and revenue; performs advanced customer support activities, and performs related duties as assigned. 

 

Reports to:

  • Field Service Manager for service-related activity
  • Area / Regional Sales Manager for sales-related activity

 

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs service calls and responds in a timely manner;
  • Provides technical support;
  • Performs pre-service job consultations and site visits in order to assess client’s needs;
  • Prepares customer quotations;
  • Conducts training on application, start-up, utilization, and repair procedures;
  • Submits accurate, prompt reports for billing of completed work;
  • Reviews and maintains service parts inventory levels;
  • Advises customers on performance and service requirements of products;
  • Accompanies Area Sales Manager on visits and calls to engineers, distributors, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), contractors, and other existing and potential end users;
  • Identifies service and sales opportunities, and escalates to appropriate channel;
  • Collaborates with sales, engineering, manufacturing, service, and marketing to drive business process improvement, customer satisfaction, and future sales;
  • Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
  • Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

            Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:

 

Experience/Training/Education:

            Advanced experience and training in assembly, installation, service and repair of all product lines; trained in company safety policies and procedures; trained at Cla-Val service school; and trained in customer and vendor relations.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to interact with customers, engineers, distributors, vendors, contractors, governmental representatives, and internal personnel;
  • Ability to assess customer service needs and prepare quotations;
  • Ability to interact with customers to develop and strengthen business relations;
  • Self-starter with the ability to multi-task and reprioritize duties throughout the day;
  • Ability to plan, schedule, organize, and prioritize work without supervision;
  • Considerable knowledge of all product lines;
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and blueprints;
  • Advanced knowledge of basic assembly and repair procedures and principles of hydraulics;
  • Computer literacy and able to learn job related software programs;
  • Ability to work in confined spaces;
  • Ability to make effective service presentations; and
  • Knowledge of company products, pricing, and technical specifications.

 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to reach, stretch, bend, lift, move and carry objects weighing 50 pounds or less;
  • Ability to move heavier objects with the assistance of others or by using mechanical devices;
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle; and
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined;

Special Requirements: 

  • Possession of a valid driver license;
  • Acceptable driving record;
  • Possession of a valid Confined Space Entry training certificate;
  • Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment;
  • Ability to work in valve service areas; and   
  • Ability to travel on company business as required.
