Wayside Family Treatment Center maintains the family unit by welcoming women who are pregnant and mothers with children into treatment to prevent separation. We provide services for addiction, parenting, and educating families in understanding how their alcohol or substance use contributes to Adverse Childhood Experiences, the ultimate goal is to improve their relationship skills to ultimately break the generational transmission of risk.

PURPOSE:

Responsible for providing case management, advocacy services and parenting services with primary focus on the mother and secondary focus on mother and family relationship at Wayside Family Treatment, a Statute 245G substance use disorder treatment program for women and their children. This position will be part of the Family Services team; a team designed to wrap family centered and culturally responsive care around diverse family units in order to improve family stabilization.

What you will do:

• Provide family services case management including parent and family case management, education groups, individual sessions, child and parent assessments, and coordination of care.
• Assist clients in setting goals based on their individual needs assessments, and in identifying steps to achieve their goals; monitor progress.
• Identify high-quality community providers and agencies whose services are relevant to client needs. Provide outreach services to engage and connect clients with the community agencies that will help meet their needs and goals.
• Coordinate scheduling and attend appointments with community providers with whom client is involved. Maintain regular contact with client’s network of service providers
• Make appropriate referrals and coordinate care to assist client in obtaining resources and meeting treatment planning goals for client and their children.
• Provide child/parent curriculum and case management to children and extended family members as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, timely and complete records, including but not limited to documenting progress, screenings, collateral contacts, and assessments.
• Maintain on-going communication with multi-disciplinary team and collateral workers, including providing written reports and discharge information.
• Complete all required adult development assessments and enter the data in the specified database.
• Provide transportation to client/child appointments and to obtain resources as needed.
• Role model behavior that is consistent with and supportive of people in recovery from substance use disorder. Such behavior will include upholding ethical standards of Wayside Family Treatment programs, reliable attendance, mediation and/or conflict resolution, respectful assertiveness and open 2 communication. Demonstrate respect and appreciation for diverse cultures and lifestyles.
• Collect and record data in a timely manner- as assigned for grant purposes
• Provide families with brief interventions, assessments and referrals to mental health, medical, substance use, and community resources.
• Assist in pregnancy, parenting and family program planning, implementation, and evaluation for mothers on site • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including participation in weekly team meetings
• Participate in in-services, workshops and other continuing education relative to quality client care.
• Follow all Statute 245G and individual licensing requirements and standards; including, following confidentiality laws and mandated reporting.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Compensation:  $48,000-$49,000 per year depending on qualifications and licensure.
Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Sciences or related field i.e. Psychology, Early Childhood Development, Social Work
  • Must be able to pass DHS background study and meet applicable requirements and regulations.
  • Experience in parent education and family advocacy
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and relate effectively to women and children of diverse economic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Skilled in the process of identifying and assessing a wide range of client needs.
  • Knowledgeable about local community resources and how to use those resources for the benefit of the client.
  • Must have current MN driver’s license and good driving record. • Must have reliable vehicle • No DUIs in last three years; No more than three moving violations/accidents in past three years
  • Must be eighteen years or older.
  • Strong attention to detail and flexibility; thinking capabilities and humor are welcome.


Preferred qualifications:
  • Licensed Social Worker
  • Previous experience and/or understanding of substance use disorder and recovery
  • 2,000 hours of supervised experience working with individuals with substance use disorder preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to climb stairs.
