Job Description

Soho Psychology is a thriving psychotherapy practice that provides exceptional therapeutic services both in-person and online. Our clients are clinically and culturally diverse, high-functioning, and very rewarding to work with. We offer a friendly, warm, and intellectually stimulating environment, ripe for your professional development. Our senior staff and supervisors are thoughtful, psychodynamically trained psychologists whose work integrates interpersonal, attachment-based therapy, CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches. We understand that context matters, so our goal is to create the greatest possible environment for our therapists to work and develop into their best professional selves.

We are currently seeking fully remote mental health counselors to join our dynamic team in a supportive and collaborative private practice setting. This position is designed for early career therapists looking to gain invaluable experience in individual psychotherapy under the direction of a clinical supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 22 - 26 weekly hours of individual psychotherapy therapy.
  • Diligently complete clinical documentation in a timely manner.
  • Engage in group and individual supervision to foster clinical growth and professional development.

Requirements

  • The ability to work fully from home: Must be able to work from home, assuring privacy, HIPAA compliance, and an appropriate background/ setting for video appointments.
  • The ability to meet in person if necessary: While such an event is unlikely if a situation calls for the therapist to meet with an otherwise online client for a one-off in-person session at our downtown office, the therapist must be able and willing to do so.
  • Completion of an accredited mental health counseling Master's program.
  • Must hold a limited permit to practice mental health counseling in New York State or permit eligible.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience and training in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, ACT, psychodynamic psychotherapy, or interpersonal therapy.
  • A strong desire for professional growth within the field of mental health counseling.
  • Enthusiasm for learning and adhering to the procedures of group private practice that values support, collaboration, respect, and integrity.
  • Excellent clinical ability, organizational skills, self-motivation, and a proactive attitude.
  • Strong understanding of and adherence to HIPAA regulations.

Required Competencies

  • Clinical skill: The ability and willingness to compassionately identify what the client wants and needs from treatment and to act accordingly. This includes the ability to notice and acknowledge instances when you may be unsure as to how to help a client and the ability to consistently seek and follow guidance from a clinical supervisor and clinical leadership.
  • Attention to Detail: The ability to identify, process, and communicate detailed information accurately, effectively, and consistently.
  • Emotional Intelligence: A high level of awareness of one's own emotional states, and emotional reactions, and the ability to manage and adroitly express one's thoughts and feelings in an interpersonal judiciousness and empathetic manner.
  • Learning Ability: The ability to readily synthesize new information and to put it into practice to great effect.
  • Adaptability: The ability to remain fully professionally functional when adapting to changing circumstances (environment, procedures, and people).
  • Industriousness: The ability to reliably take direct action in order to achieve or exceed clinical or other objectives.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to identify problems, evaluate and synthesize information; trace potential causes of issues, and develop novel solutions.

Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: Compensation starts at $40 per session.
  • Benefits: 401k plans; gym membership; paid time off; flexible scheduling, and more.
  • Professional Growth: Benefit from the supervision of experienced psychologists and mental health counselors.
  • Innovative Work Environment: Minimal paperwork, cutting-edge scheduling and documentation technology, and the flexibility to work remotely or in our beautiful downtown office space.
  • Career Advancement Opportunities: Postdoctoral fellows have the opportunity to transition into fully-licensed psychologist roles, with significantly increased compensation.
