Compensation: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour (DOE)

Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant performs administrative and clinical duties such as recording patients’ vital signs, obtaining patients’ medical histories and assisting physicians during patient examinations. They collect laboratory tests, administer medication to patients and draw blood. Also, clinical medical assistants may prepare X-rays, remove sutures and change wound dressings. Under the direction of their physician, clinical medical assistants call pharmacists to provide prescription information, authorize prescription refills and talk with patients. Typically, the medical assistants instruct patients on physicians’ instructions the proper medicine dosage and special diet restrictions. In addition, they might be called on to explain medical procedures to patients.

What You’ll Do:
- Prepare and organize exam rooms
- Setup Charts in EMR - Electronic Medical Record
- Inspect exam rooms for cleanliness and equipment condition
- Respond to patient calls
- Maintain sample medication closet
- Stock and maintain rooms with adequate supplies
- Check patients' medical records for pertinent data
- Review and maintain current patient information/demographic data
- Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms
- Prepares for visits by physician and/or extender by obtaining initial information and vital signs
- Assists with exams, tests, and special procedures as directed.
- Schedule appointments and tests
- Pre-certify patients for insurance coverage
- Set up referral contacts
- Review all requisitions (e.g., labs and x-rays) for completeness
- Fill in at other office locations as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
What You’ll Need:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program
- Ability to operate various office and medical equipment
- Fundamental understanding of personal computers and familiarity with the Windows operating system
- Minimum of one year of medical assistant experience in a physician office or hospital required.
- Well organized and detail oriented, while applying sound judgment and decision making
- Advanced technical skills in MS Excel and medical office software
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent customer service skills
- Team player attitude and willingness to make active contributions to the team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
