JOB DESCRIPTION:

Axon is seeking a Test Technician that is responsible for using a high degree of mechanical and electrical aptitude, problem-solving and troubleshooting skill sets. The role will be responsible for the integration of heat shrink tunnels, shrink sleeving, tamper evident banding, and stretch sleeve applicators into systems and conduct performance standard testing prior to Factory Acceptance Testing and shipment. The person must be capable and comfortable working both autonomously with general guidance, as well as in a team environment. The Test Technician must demonstrate initiative and perseverance to maintain project timelines. Additionally, this position requires timely communication and advanced coordination with the Director of Manufacturing to drive project completion. The Test Technician will utilize BaseCamp and other mediums to communicate project milestone completion, opportunities, and concerns. This position will report to the Director of Manufacturing. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Assemble complex mechanical units where a high degree of problem-solving and extreme care, skilled workmanship, and accuracy are required to meet strict inspection, testing and operating specifications.
  • Position, erect, align, level; position sub-assemblies, units, and separates components and integrate their operations; perform fitting, aligning, timing, calibrating, and other operations incidental to the mechanical assembly of the machine.
  • Read and interpret engineering prints/specifications, electrical schematics, manufacturing manuals, and/or verbal/written instructions necessary to setup/test customer equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical controls utilizing Multimeter, Amp meter, and/or oscilloscope.
  • Communicate with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to drive resolution of issues and opportunities.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects concurrently, as well as 1-2 assembly technicians in the setup/break down of equipment/systems.
  • Must be able to execute onsite Factory Acceptance Testing with multiple customers and system integrators.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on-time and within scope.
  • Utilize BaseCamp to communicate project milestones, opportunities and concerns.
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills.
  • Transport specified parts from various plant locations manually or by using various mechanical lifting aids e.g. forklift trucks, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word documents.
  • Strictly follows all safety requirements for hand and power tool operation, the assembly of parts, forklift and housekeeping.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring and gauging instruments such as scales, calipers, micrometers, etc., to inspect and verify conformance of parts to specifications/tolerances.
  • Regular attendance and daily punctuality are critical in performing the job.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a machinery assembler or maintenance mechanic preferred.
  • High School or equivalent, technical degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Understands and can perform the mechanical assembly of complex machines.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Ability to stand, sit, crawl, squat, kneel, twist, bend, and reach above the shoulders as required to perform essential job functions.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, mechanical diagrams, electrical schematics, and bills of materials.
  • Ability to safely and correctly use hand and power tools and precision measurement devices.
  • Machine shop experience preferred.
  • Math skills to include knowledge of fraction principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to successfully handle a multi-tasked role.
  • Excellent organization skills.
