Child Care Teacher Aide - Full-Time

- Assists in the planning, development and implementation of the child care program.
- Responsible for the safety and well being of the children served.
- Responsible for insuring licensing requirements is being met at all times.
- Responsible for insuring Health Department and Fire Code regulations are being met at all times.
- Serves as a role model for the children.
- Helps the children in their self-care requirements.
- Works directly with the children in implementing the Center’s program.
- Responsible for routine record keeping.
- Responsible for the administration and documentation of all medication and medical treatments.
- Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of the direct care staff.
- Acts as a key link between the Center and the child’s family.
- Performs other such duties as may be required of the position as assigned by the Program Director.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
good verbal and written skills. Must be able to complete Medication training. General knowledge of disabilities is preferred. Establish a good rapport with the children. Establish and maintain a good working relationship with coworkers.
Qualifications
- At least 16 years of age or older.
- Three months of programmatic experience in the group care of children with disabilities and at least one of the following educational backgrounds:
- a one year early childhood certificate from an accredited college or university that consists of at least 30 semester hours;
- A child development credential by an organization approved by the department ;
- A teaching diploma from an internationally recognized Montessori organization; or
- A high school diploma or G.E.D. or verification of completion of a home school program approved by the state, and six months of supervised programmatic in the group care of children. Within one month of after being promoted or beginning work, a minimum of 12 hours of training related to the care of children, including child development, playground safety, and health and safety issues, including child abuse and neglect shall be received. Such training may take place on site while not supervising children.
- Must satisfactorily complete required annual training hours as specified by Licensing Standards.
Physical Qualifications
Free of TB in the communicable form.
Physically be able to lift children to changing table or to lower children to changing mat on floor.
Able to assist children with evacuation.
Able to assist children in wheelchairs.
Able to communicate effectively with children.

The position is full-time, 40 hours/week and is a SPLIT Schedule Monday - Friday 6am-9am and 1:30pm-6:30pm.
