Publication Production Designer
- $25 to $35 Hourly
- Part-Time
Experienced publication production designer needed for weekly periodical serving readers and advertisers in Loudoun County, Virginia. 20-24 hours per week spread over three-to-four days prior to publication deadline Tuesdays at midnight.
Position includes advertising and editorial design and composition, requires quick turnaround, attention to detail, and interaction with advertising and editorial staff.
Remote work available off-deadline, but requires on-site interaction with editorial staff Tuesday nights to finalize pages with breaking news stories and make last-minute editorial corrections prior to release.
Position requirements:
- Thorough understanding of Creative Suite applications, especially InDesign and Photoshop toolsets, menu shortcuts and troubleshooting problem files.
- Understanding of printing offset printing process including RGB to CMYK conversion, compensation for dot gain, and ink saturation.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Attention to detail, both contextual and visual.
- Willingness to work as part of a collaborative team in a deadline environment.
$25 - $35/hour, based on experience and efficiency.
