Extruder Operator - 3rd shift (train on 2nd)

The Extruder Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an Extruder.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

·       Startup extruder and keep them running throughout the shift.  Perform routine machine maintenance (change filters, empty dust bin, etc.) as needed.

·       Troubleshoot machine problems.  Adjust machine settings (heats, pressures, guides, etc.).  Configure hopper and material usage to achieve the required raw material mix.

·       Maintain proper gauges and widths of roll stock.  Chuck rolls.  Stage roll stock in inventory area.  Operate forklift to move roll stock.

·       Check the daily schedule for machine assignments.  Communicate machine settings, pounds of material to run, and material changeovers to the oncoming Extruder Operator.

·       Complete paperwork:  mark rolls as produced and keep daily production sheet to track pounds and material type; fill out Reject Forms for all rejected raw materials and roll stock.

·       Perform general housekeeping and cleaning duties.  See to the grinding of scrap parts as needed.

·       Performs other tasks as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

·       Good mechanical skills and the ability to use tools to make machine adjustments.

·       Forklift Experience.

• Read and write English.
• Ability to follow instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Forklift experience.

·       Previous experience in a manufacturing setting.

Education and Experience:

·       High school diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements:

·       The Machine Operator is on his/her feet throughout the day but is often required to move material using a forklift.

·       Lifting, squatting, bending and carrying is required to load shafts onto winder.  Winder shafts weigh approximately 70 pounds.
