Job Description
Are you a meticulous editor with a passion for effective communication? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where your project management skills can shine? Are you a master of words, a conductor of creativity and a maestro of management? We're looking for a dynamic Editor/Project Manager to join the Florida League of Cities!

Bring your keen eye for detail, your knack for storytelling and your passion for organization to our vibrant team. In this role, you'll edit a variety of communication materials, ensuring clarity, consistency, accuracy and adherence to brand guidelines. You'll also oversee projects from inception to completion, coordinate with League staff requesting projects, and supervise communications staff to deliver high-quality results on time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Edit print and digital content such as flyers, event programs, print and online magazine, eblasts, newsletters, directories and other communications collateral.
  • Oversee and manage projects throughout the League, its affiliates and Trusts.
  • Prioritize and delegate projects to staff while maintaining the production schedule.
  • Copy, edit and proofread all League and affiliate materials for grammar, structure, consistency, content accuracy and style, adhering to AP Stylebook and internal FLC style guide.
  • Provide supervision and direction to communications staff.
  • Collaborate with League staff to ensure high-quality projects are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Communicate project updates, timelines and deliverables to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Maintain style guides and brand for the League and its affiliates.
  • Write content for a variety of League programs and publications including the magazine, newsletters, email and web.
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform content development and verify information.
  • Provide additional communications support to the League as needed such as email, website and social media management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong editing, proofreading and writing skills.
  • Superior organizational skills and close attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills, including ability to manage and meet strict deadlines.
  • Experience in project management and coordinating large-scale projects.
  • Ability to successfully manage and prioritize multiple assignments in an independent manner.
  • Skilled at writing for news media and news sources.
  • Strong verbal communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of AP Stylebook.
  • Background/knowledge of graphic design.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Ability to work with multi-departmental teams.
  • Supervisory skills and experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from an accredited college or university, or equivalent, with a degree in journalism, English, communications, marketing or related field. Three to five years experience in a related field in a similar capacity preferred.
