Job Description

The Geospatial (GIS) Solution Engineer serves as a technical lead within T&M’s Applied Technology Practice reporting to the practice leader. This role’s primary focus will be on geospatial technology projects within the Applied Technology practice as well as supporting projects across the engineering market sectors focusing on: data collection and development, application/solution development, GIS enterprise system implementations and maintenance, data visualization, asset management, Esri solution implementation, indoor mapping, and other related technologies, tools and software.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a technical GIS lead for the organization working with the Director of Applied Technology to identify growth areas in the geospatial technology space.
  • Support strategic pursuits through stakeholder outreach, proposal development and project management execution.
  • Create technical applications and demonstration to support business development activities, conferences and other marketing initiatives.
  • Guide and direct clients on the use of geospatial technology identifying areas to leverage and better utilize its capabilities helping to move them forward.
  • Work with the Practice Leaders and other company leadership to identify new technologies, software, business lines, and solutions to keep the organization ahead of the industry and our clients.
  • Guide and mentor junior technical staff to help foster a collaborative environment across the organization.

Professional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Planning or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience designing and architecting technology solutions and workflows from concept through implementation with federal, state, county, and local agencies across multiple industries.
  • Experience with the install, configuration, maintenance, and administration of ArcGIS Enterprise including patching, license renewals, and detail-oriented troubleshooting.
  • Experience with RDBM systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL and the integration of spatial and non-spatial databases.
  • Cloud platform experience such as Azure or AWS for application development and environment hosting as well as utilizing their ML and AI capabilities.
  • Management and support of field data collection activities including the configuration and maintenance of GPS units and iPads.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to convey technical details and information to both technical and non-technical staff.
  • GIS Professional (GISP) certification is desired but not required.

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience will the full Esri technology stack from desktop, server, and cloud based technologies to Esri Solutions, software extensions, and development tools.
  • ArcGIS Indoors and Network Management (Utility Network) solutions
  • Programming, scripting and automation experience with Python 3.0 or higher, Arcade, JavaScript, SQL, Command line, ESRI and third party API’s, etc..
  • Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau or other business intelligence and visualization tools.
  • Asset Management software: Maximo, Hexagon, Cartegraph, Cityworks, etc..
  • Additional IT, cloud, programming, and database skills related to working with the above.
