About Your Position

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Finance and Accounting Controller to join our growing and successful organization. In this critical role, you will own all aspects of our financial accounting function, ensuring the integrity of our financial data, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. This Is What You'll Do

  • Lead and execute all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report on variances.
  • Prepare and publish timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Communicate financial information and priorities in a way that is accessible and connected to the company's mission and core values.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes and maintain complete control of all aspects of the general ledger.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting principles (GAAP) and internal control procedures.
  • Manage and maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
  • Manage tax compliance and filings for both state and federal agencies.
  • Analyze financial data and generate reports for management and/or to meet Federal reporting requirements.
  • Create and implement cost-saving measures to improve financial efficiency.
  • Develop, maintain, and expand scalable processes and procedures for accounting and finance functions including budget tracking for complex Federal government projects, audit preparation, and systems integration.
  • Work with the Business Development and Operations teams to develop pricing for Federal and large state and local opportunities and ensure compliance with FAR regulations and solicitation requirements, including collaborating with partners and subcontractors on rates and costs.
  • Stay up to date on the latest accounting practices and regulations.
  • Acts as trainer and administrator for timekeeping system (Unanet)
  • Processes payroll on a semi-monthly basis

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA a plus).
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a senior accounting role.
  • U.S. citizenship is required to be eligible for a security clearance to support Federal contracts. Must have the ability to obtain a clearance and/or agency-specific background check, as required.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, MS Suite, Unanet, isolved.
  • Strong understanding of Government contracting including compliance with the FAR, DCAA, job costing, and indirect rates.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ideal candidates may also possess several of the following skills and qualifications:

  • Must be a self-starter, hands-on, and execute with minimal oversight.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills.
  • Small business experience.

Location, Compensation & Benefits

This is a remote position; however, must reside in one of the following states:

AL, CA, DC, FL, GA, IL MD, MI, MO, NC, NJ, NM, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, VA, WA

Travel may be required (~ 10% or less)
