Job Summary: HonorBridge is recruiting for an HR Business Partner. The HR Business Partner will assist the Director of Human Resources with the administration of various HR plans, policies, and procedures. Specifically, this role will provide HR guidance and expertise in the areas of HR business support, employee relations, talent acquisition, diversity, equity, & inclusion, employee/manager coaching, talent management, and engagement for multiple teams. The role is a mix of operational and strategic business support.

The HR Business Partner will work with the Director of Human Resources and other HR team members to develop and deliver the company people strategy and support HR projects whilst providing direct business partnering support to people managers. The main purpose of the role is to deliver outstanding HR support to the organization by supporting the delivery of key strategic projects and HR operational activities covering the entire employment life cycle

  • General HR Responsibilites
    • Assist in developing and implementing human resource plans, policies, procedures and goals
    • Partner in continuing to create scalable policy and processes. Recommend improvements as appropriate.
    • Take accountability for specific required HR actions; reporting on progress and success measures to the Director of Human Resources.
    • Includes hands-on HR systems transactions, audit & reporting, to ensure accurate and precise data is generated in our HRIS, Payroll, and Benefits systems.
    • Partner on and/or lead value add tasks/initiatives; including but not limited to, job leveling, performance enablement, and manager enablement.
    • Provides support for activities related to federal and state laws and regulations governing human resources practices including but not limited to the Fair Labor Standards Act, Work Authorization and Employment Eligibility Verification, Family and Medical Leave Act and Americans with Disabilities Act. Ensures personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, and local laws and regulations; ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Support the DEI initiatives for HonorBridge, including webpage updates and implementing programs and best practices.
    • Assist Director of Human Resources in administering the job classification and pay system; participate in periodic salary surveys and revision of job descriptions as needed.
    • Partner with managers to execute compensation planning cycles
    • Develop and provide staff education/training sessions, as needed, to enhance employee motivation, development, and performance.
    • Collaborate in design, rollout and execution of employee engagement programs
  • Recruiting & Onboarding:
    • Suggest, plan and/or coordinate creative and innovative recruitment strategies, including but not limited to marketing, communications, job fairs, professional organizations, networking events and/or informational sessions
    • Develop and oversee the recruitment process in conjunction with HR team and managers and ensure we can fill roles on a timely basis.
    • Oversee and participate in the on-boarding process with enabling departments and management to ensure new hire process is complete and thorough.
    • Help conduct new hire orientation, and inform new hires of organizational culture, HR policies and programs.
  • Coaching/Counseling
    • Assist managers in their understanding of HR programs, management techniques and communication practices that enable employee satisfaction and retention.
    • Provide human resources consultation and guidance to managers and employees to include coaching and counseling on policy interpretation issues and resolution.
    • Coach and counsel leaders through insight, constructive feedback and challenge, delivered in a trustful way to enable the leader to be most effective and to ensure consistency
    • Provide performance management guidance through coaching, counseling, development plans and corrective actions. Manage and resolve employee relations issues.
    • Conduct investigations when necessary and participate in disciplinary actions when applicable.
    • Facilitate discussions with management, as necessary, regarding department structure, staffing levels, reporting relationships, to ensure optimum efficiencies in staffing, career progression and talent management.
  • Reporting & Analytics:
    • Provide critical data and systems support including HRIS Data and Reporting management. Analyze data trends and metrics to inform business decisions.
    • Help design HR dashboards for internal and external reporting such as recruiting KPIs, DEI statistics, onboarding and exit survey feedback, etc.
    • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. Develop and present data to all levels of leadership.
    • Produce key HR metrics for both the Senior Leadership Team and local management teams
  • Strategic Project Management
    • As part of the HR team, support as needed, the design and delivery of the people strategy in line with HonorBridge strategic objectives
    • Support the process and delivery of key HR projects, current examples include workforce planning, learning & development, talent, succession planning, and well-being.
    • Provide pro-active advice and counsel to team members on best practice to ensure project success. Seek opportunities to improve processes and facilitate process improvement projects.
  • Communication:
    • Develop and distribute HR communications including but not limited to the weekly newsletter, annual benefit communications, HR webpage, and various email communications.
    • Work with subject matter experts to gather and edit content and where applicable work with vendor on layout, secure necessary approvals and distribute to appropriate audiences.
    • Responsible for the drafting and distribution of the HonorBridge Weekly Newsletter.
      • Review submissions for appropriateness of inclusion in the newsletter.
      • Edit submissions to align with tone and voice of newsletter.
    • Work cross-functionally with the Marketing & Communication team to align on communication goals, channel strategy, and messaging.
    • Develop toolkits to ensure all HR benefits and programs are understood and effectively communicated to HonorBridge colleagues.

Physical requirements: Sitting, standing, occasional lifting (up to twenty pounds), finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and visual acuity

Work environment: hybrid remote/office environment, occasional automobile travel within local area and to other HonorBridge offices in North Carolina.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Communications, Organizational Development or other relevant field
  • 3+ years relevant work experience in Human Resources
  • PHR, SPHR, or HRCI certifications preferred but not required.
  • Ability to analyze information, assess issues, make recommendations and clearly articulate them.
  • Ability to absorb information and translate it into persuasive, relevant, benefit-oriented messaging.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, listen, collaborate and influence others.

  • Knowledge and ability to use internal communications and design online platforms, such as Canva, BananaTag, or similar.
