Medical Assistant

The ideal candidate will have customer service experience, strong communication skills, and be able to work well as part of a compassionate, dynamic, and dedicated team. Our plastic surgeons focus specifically on breast reductions and transgender breast surgery, and our motto is "We specialize in positive change". Our practice serves many patients who identify as people of color and/or LGBTQ, and we take pride as a health advocate for this demographic. The hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and on Wednesday from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm. There is a 30 minute lunch break each day. Please only apply if you can reliably commute to our office at 800A 5th Avenue in Manhattan. Repeated lateness is unacceptable.

Responsibilities:

• answering phone calls and taking detailed messages
• communicating with patients
• monitoring incoming faxes
• entering information and uploading documents into the electronic medical record system
• communicating with medical offices, labs, and imaging facilities
• photographing patients
• preparing, maintaining, and cleaning exam rooms
• monitoring inventory and ordering supplies
• chaperoning plastic surgeons when seeing patients
• assisting physician assistants with patients
• assist with additional in-office tasks
• ***A SUBSTANTIAL PART IF THE JOB INVOKVES BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR COLLECTING AND TRACKING TYE PREOPERATIVE DOCUMENTATION FOR PATIENTS SCHEDULED FOR SURGERY

Qualifications:

• Previous experience with "front office" and "back office" responsibilities in a medical practice
• Familiarity with electronic medical records
• Strong communication skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Annual salary is $50,000.00. Benefits include 10 days PTO, health insurance, and 401k. Excellent performance may result in promotion and higher pay.
