JOB EMPHASIS AND PURPOSE

The Maintenance & Engineering Manager will lead both the maintenance and engineering teams, overseeing all technical operations and spearheading business development initiatives. This role is critical for ensuring operational excellence and driving growth through new business opportunities and innovative engineering solutions.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of Department

Ø Oversee daily operations of the maintenance and engineering teams, ensuring all activities align with company objectives and production goals.

Ø Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies including predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance plans to enhance equipment reliability and minimize downtime.

Ø Lead engineering projects from conception through implementation, including design, prototyping, testing, and scaling to production.

Ø Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the teams.

Ø Drive business development efforts by identifying new market opportunities, developing partnerships, and participating in industry events.

Ø Prepare and manage budgets for maintenance and engineering departments, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for projects and operations.

Ø Collaborate with other department heads to integrate engineering solutions and maintenance services with broader company operations.

Ø Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all projects and maintenance practices.

Ø Mentor and develop team members, providing technical guidance and career growth opportunities.

Ø Monitor the cost and benefits of our operations in the Maintenance & Engineering Departments.

Quality & ISO 9001

Ø Maintain and update ISO procedures as needed

Ø Determine root cause.

Ø Address issues when they arise and respond to HUFs.

Ø Ensure departmental compliance to all ISO policies and procedures.

Support

Ø Assist other production areas as needed.

Ø Participate in weekly meetings with Operations Manager to discuss planning, needs & support

Ø Support HR concerning personnel issues within the department.

Ø Oversee and direct maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience
Ø Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or related field.

Ø 7+ years of management experience in maintenance is preferred. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate multidisciplinary teams.

Ø Excellent project management skills, with experience managing large-scale projects and budgets.

Ø Proficient in the latest industry technologies and lean manufacturing principles.

Ø Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building strong relationships with partners, suppliers, and customers.
Ø PLC and networking experience desired

License / Credentials / Certifications
Ø Lockout certification (desirable, training available)
Ø Valid driver license (preferred)
Ø Forklift license (desirable, training available)

Skills / Specialized Knowledge / Abilities

Ø Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to think analytically and creatively.

Ø Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Ø Comfort in relating to all levels of management and diversity of personalities.

Ø Advanced attention to detail and accuracy in all work.

Ø Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Ø Familiar with typical machine shop equipment (mills, lathes, drill press, etc.).

Ø Teamwork, face-to-face communication, dependable.
Ø Knowledge of mechanical & pneumatic systems as well as a general knowledge of building structures.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working Environment

Ø Work throughout facility (mostly plant and maintenance shop), plus outside property

Tools and Equipment

Ø Computer, general office equipment, cell phone, basic hand tools (including but not limited to scissors, snips, box knife), electric tools. Appropriate PPE will be assigned as required. This may include safety glasses, gloves, hat or hairnet, hearing protection.

Ø Personal computer, copier, hand and electrical tools, scissor lift

Travel

Ø Minimal

Physical and Mental Demands

Ø Ability to stand & work on concrete for extended periods of time.

Ø Ability to sit at a desk/workstation for long periods of time.

Ø Ability to work at a computer terminal for long periods of time

Ø Ability to squat, bend at waste, kneel, etc.

Ø Digital dexterity and hand/eye coordination in repairing machines.

Ø Ability to lift & carry up to 50 pounds on occasion, using proper lifting techniques & processes.

Ø Ability to compare, problem solve, analyze, instruct, interpret, etc.

Ø Ability to speak & hear employees in problematic situations (loud environments)

Ø May require the ability to work at heights exceeding 50 feet.
